Privacy policy

The Wrong Guy Detective Agency · Anders Borlid · Updated 8 October 2026

The Wrong Guy Detective Agency is developed and operated by Anders Borlid. This policy covers the Android game, the browser playtest and the game's website and feedback service.

The adventure can be played offline on Android. No game account is needed. Sending feedback is optional. There are no advertising or gameplay analytics SDKs in the game.

Information kept on your device

Game progress, collected evidence, choices and settings are stored locally. Unsent feedback drafts and the feedback invitation preference also stay on your device, or in browser storage for the web edition. Progress is not automatically uploaded or synchronised between devices by the game.

When you send feedback

When you press Send feedback, the game sends the following over HTTPS to the developer's feedback service at apps.borlid.net:

You can review the attachment before sending. The game does not attach microphone recordings, screenshots, contacts or unrelated files from your device. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in your message.

Why this information is used

Reports help reproduce problems, investigate confusing clues and improve the adventure. Optional contact details are used to follow up on your feedback. If you contact support by email, your email address and correspondence are used to handle that request. Feedback is not used for advertising, sold, or published to other players.

Access, service providers and security

Submitted reports are stored in a private database with an authenticated developer dashboard. The developer can access reports for support and maintenance. Hosting, network and email services process the information necessary to deliver and operate these services. Technical access is restricted, but no storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.

If you choose to export or share a draft using another app, that destination receives the information you share and handles it under its own privacy practices.

Website and service logs

Opening this website, loading the browser game or contacting the feedback service produces ordinary hosting request logs. These may include IP address, date and time, requested URL, response status and browser/user-agent information. Logs support operation, troubleshooting, security and assessment of website use. This is separate from the game: it does not automatically send a record of each dialogue choice or puzzle action.

The feedback service uses temporary request counters to limit abuse. The browser game uses local storage for progress and drafts; the private administrator dashboard uses a login cookie. These information pages do not include analytics scripts, advertising trackers or third-party fonts.

Google Play

Google Play handles store access, installation, updates and its own security services under Google's privacy policy. Google may provide the developer with distribution statistics, reviews and technical quality reports through Play Console. These are separate from the game's voluntary feedback form.

Retention and deletion

Local progress and drafts remain until you reset or remove them, clear the application's or browser's storage, or uninstall the Android app. Exported copies remain wherever you saved them.

Submitted feedback and support correspondence are kept for investigation and ongoing project maintenance unless you request removal. There is currently no fixed automatic deletion period. Hosting logs and backup copies are managed separately from the report database; a deletion request will be reviewed for those copies as well. Any information that must be retained for security or legal reasons will be explained when handling the request.

You can request access, correction or deletion by emailing anders@borlid.net. Include the report number if available; no game account is required. See Data deletion for practical instructions.

Updates and contact

This policy will be updated if the game's data handling changes. The revision date is shown at the top. For privacy questions, contact Anders Borlid at anders@borlid.net.
